Work Hardening

Performed either in the actual work environment or a simulated setup, work hardening is a programme through which an individual is progressively assisted to carry out occupational activities they were able to perform before a medical event such as an injury or illness.

Guided by assessment findings, our practitioners take into careful account the individual’s condition and tolerances in helping them through the various stages of reintegration.

Our activities place an emphasis on:

  • Safety and prevention of injuries or health exposures
  • Developing new work performance skills and behaviours
  • Developing levels of physical and cognitive endurance required in the individual’s specific job
  • Determining necessary role adaptations to accommodate the individual’s condition(s).
